A show of #ClementineSpirit

It’s not every school day you encounter a group of Grade 8s dressed in head to toe green, busting a move to “You Can’t Touch This”, MC Hammer’s biggest hit (circa 1990.) During Spirit Week, however, colourful expressions like this one are the norm around SCS.

We often talk about the unique spirit of St. Clement’s School as a defining characteristic of our community. At no time during the year is it more apparent than during Spirit Week, a week dedicated to school spirit. Spirit Week gives our girls an opportunity to work together to compete in friendly grade vs. grade competitions – like the highly anticipated lip sync battles (that’s where MC Hammer comes in.)

Each year there is a theme for this school-wide event, and the week features a fun line up of activities, events, and competitions. This year we time travelled “Through the Decades” – each grade dressed in their spirit colour and celebrated a given decade. Events throughout the week included theme-based trivia, a musical walk down memory lane in the form of the lip sync battle, original skits performed in assembly, and colourful locker decorating.

Here’s how our girls showed their #ClementineSpirit during Spirit Week 2017:
