Taking the lead

In addition to our robust academic program, St. Clement’s School provides students with an innovative leadership framework. To us, leadership means more than having a title or organizing a school- or grade-wide event. It’s not only about encouraging our girls to lead, but providing them with opportunities to learn about leading, both within and beyond the School’s walls.

The Leadership Program combines instruction and hands-on experience which spans the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. In our Junior School, our girls build their leadership capabilities, with structured leadership opportunities beginning in Grade 4 through our reading buddy program. Middle School students build on the capabilities initiated in the Junior School by participating in student government and special interest clubs. Our Senior School girls are able to put their leadership skills more deeply into practice and, in her graduating year, each student will hold a formal leadership role so that she can practise and refine her leadership capabilities.

Each September, our entire School gathers for Installation service at St. Clement’s Church, during which Senior School leaders, from Head Girl to House Heads to Student Council and various club and academic Heads, pledge to fulfill the commitments of their roles to the entire School community.

At the end of their time at St. Clement’s, students will have received formal leadership training and multiple opportunities to put that training into practice—learning by leading.
