Gala: Good Times for a Good Cause

There’s always a lot to celebrate at St. Clement’s School, but recently the community gathered together for the biggest and grandest celebration of the year.

The Speakeasy Gala took place at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District on April 6 and was attended by more than 235 members of the St. Clement’s community. Opened by SCS’s own Jazz Quintet and a warm welcome from Principal Martha Perry ‘85, the venue was transformed into an elegant 1920s nook. The evening was filled with great music, wonderful conversation, and a never-ending supply of food and refreshments including the event’s signature cocktail, the Bee’s Knees.

The highlights of the night were the Live and Silent Auctions which saw an outstanding selection of items and experiences sold to enthusiastic and generous bidders with all proceeds going to the School’s roof project. When the sale ended, the mixing and mingling continued, and more than a few SCS souls hit the dance floor.

As the last of the ostrich plumes floated to the floor and the final beats drifted toward the lakefront, more than $80,000 had been raised to enhance the roof of the School as a study and play space for all students.

A good cause indeed, supported by great times.
