It`s National Volunteer Week!
Today, we celebrate the impact that volunteers have made on our community. This year`s theme is #EveryMomentMatters. The effort and time you have put in help us further each student`s dreams. Your involvement helps us nurture them to become courageous, compassionate leaders and changemakers who will bring a brighter future. #NVW2024
The gala is less than a week away and the silent auction (check your SCS Connect or eNews for the link) is now LIVE! Browse our impressive catalogue of prizes to be won. The proceeds of the gala will go towards upgrading the East Gym audio-visual systems and to provide tech devices for every Junior School student.

This year’s Prefect community partner, Toronto Environmental Alliance, made a special appearance at our full school assembly today to talk to us about sustainability and environmentally conscious practices. Whether it is opting for reusable cutlery at restaurants or saying no to single-use plastics, every little bit helps.
At the end of the assembly, the spirit item was passed down from one student to another, to recognize her kindness and sunny attitude.

Junior School crooners put on a great show after school this afternoon, at a fun karaoke party hosted by the Prefects! 🎤👏
The STEM Committee presented to our full school community at assembly earlier this week! It was a hot topic: artificial intelligence. The STEM Committee provided an overview of what AI is all about and highlighted some of the benefits and the potential issues. They concluded with a fun quiz - students and staff had to guess the AI-generated works of art!
Ophelia N. ‘31’s sister is currently attending medical school in Dublin, and she visited the Grade 5 class virtually yesterday to lead a hands-on activity. Plastic bottles and balloons were used to give the students a sense of how our lungs function!
One exciting follow-up to Claudia Dey ’91’s visit to SCS last week: we’ve learned that her novel Daughter has been shortlisted for the Carol Shields Prize for Fiction! Claudia is one of five North American authors shortlisted for the prize, which recognizes the best fiction book by a woman or non-binary writer in Canada and the United States.
Today is International Day of Pink, a day with one purpose: to create a more inclusive and diverse world. On this #DayOfPink and every day, we stand in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to continue fighting for equality and acceptance. This year’s theme is Visibility, a celebration of visibility in all its forms - being seen, acknowledged, respected, and listened to.💗
