In addition to celebrating our OFSAA athletes at assembly earlier this week, English Teacher Mr. Mercier shared some recent debating and creative writing accomplishments! Over the March Break, the Queen’s University National High School Debating Championship took place. Congratulations to Chenxi Y. and Clara X. (both ’27), who broke to finals in the junior division of the tournament, ultimately placing top-9 in their division. Carol Z. ’25, whose team broke to finals in the open division of the tournament, ultimately earned a top-7 finish with her partner; she also earned a top-9 individual speaker honour in the open division individual speaker category.
We also learned that the creative writing entries of three SCS students - Zoey Y. ’28, Trinity S. ’26, and Renee H. ’25 – were selected as part of the INCITE annual creative writing contest for inclusion in CIS’ annual anthology. Only 6 or 7 students from across the CIS network qualify in each of the three age divisions, and SCS was represented in every division.
Congrats to our student debaters and writers for these impressive accomplishments!
SCS athletes, the tryouts for our spring sports teams (tennis, track and field, ultimate frisbee, softball, and golf) get underway this week! For details check the weekly Athletics Schedule.
