A Year of Connection
In 2026–2027, the St. Clement’s School community will come together to honour 125 years of history, connection, and Clementine spirit.
Through on-campus and online events, an archival exhibition, a speakers series, and our milestone Red Party, this year will reflect where we’ve been and look ahead to all that’s still to come.

From the Archives
1901
Where It All Began
St. Clement’s School was founded in the Parish Hall of St. Clement’s Church by Canon Thomas W. Powell and Mrs. Constance Waugh in 1901 before moving across the street to 21 St. Clements Avenue in 1922.
1901–1922
13 Pupils to Almost 100
At opening, St. Clement’s School had 13 pupils ranging in age from 5 to 21 years. By 1922, there were almost 100 students.
1917
Boys Outnumbered Girls
St. Clement’s began with both male and female students and, by 1917, boys outnumbered girls.
1930
The Red Blazer Arrives
The SCS uniform of navy tunic, white blouse, and red blazer was formally introduced in the early 1930s, with neck ties added in 1975.
1942
Posture Week
January 26 to February 1, 1942 was Posture Week at St. Clement’s, when students were encouraged to sit and stand upright at all times!
1948
The Gold Cord
The Gold Cord was introduced by the Fifth Form in 1948. Today it is known as the Gold Belt and worn with pride by all our Grads.
1960
The House System Begins
The House System came to St. Clement’s in 1960: Stuart, Tudor, Windsor, and York have been battling it out ever since.
1986
Leafs Legends on the Ice
In 1986, the SCS ice hockey team was coached by Toronto Maple Leafs legends Frank Mahovlich, a past-parent, and Eddie Shack.
1987 / 2000
Mascot Moments
In 1987, the penguin became the school mascot while Pamplemousse, our very own moose, arrived in 2000.
2006
Powell Hall Opens
Powell Hall opened in 2006 and, the following year, Beauty and the Beast became the first major musical production to be staged there.
2015
Farewell to the East Gym Carpet
The East Gym’s legendary carpet was bid a teary-eyed farewell in 2015 and replaced with a more conventional floor surface.
