St. Clement’s School invites colleague schools to the next gathering in our ongoing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) conference series: Staying in Relationship: Holding Community Under Pressure.

Schools are long-term communities; students, educators, parents, leaders, and board members continue learning and living alongside one another long after tension, disagreement, or discomfort occurs. This year’s theme explores what capacities help school communities remain thoughtful, connected, and capable of learning under those conditions.

Schools are increasingly navigating:

-social media-driven discourse,

-rapid narrative formation,

-geopolitical events entering school life,

-changing demographics,

-identity-based conversations,

-increasing pressure toward certainty, and

-reduced tolerance for ambiguity.

The challenge lies in not simply managing these issues – but in maintaining trust, participation, dialogue, and community while doing so.

COST

Schools may bring up to 15 attendees, ideally a mix of students, faculty, staff, admin, parents, board members, and alums. The registration fee is $1,000 per school.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW: WHAT TO EXPECT

The day will move from an opening panel into constituent group dialogue, cross-school learning, and school team application. Participants will explore the conditions that help communities sustain trust, understanding, dialogue, and institutional learning when disagreement puts them under pressure. 

Participating schools will leave with an institutional baseline, one condition they want to strengthen, and an approach for identifying evidence of progress over time.
