The primary years can shape how students approach learning for years to come. Prospective families, please join us at SCS on Monday, June 1 for the Pathways to Primary: Step Inside Grades 1-3 event! It’s a great opportunity to see our youngest Clementines in action and have your questions about these foundational years answered.

Starting at SCS in Grades 1, 2, or 3 helps students feel connected, engaged, and ready to become immersed in deeper learning from the very start. Register for our Pathways to Primary event by visiting scs.on.ca/join-our-community/ or at the link in bio.
Get excited to kick off the summer with opportunities for learning and fun! SCS is offering several general interest programs in June and July, including volleyball, a variety program for Grades 1-4, and the essentials of academic communication.

Earlier this week, Simone Wright from Parting The Roots came to SCS to speak to our American History class about the significance of hair and hairstyles in African and Black American cultures. Set in a robust historical context, students learned about hair as a form of both self- and cultural-expression, and the modern-day barriers Black Canadians and Americans face because of assumptions and biases about Black hair. Much thought was given to the lived experience of people facing discrimination, particularly the subtle yet profound ways it affects their daily lives. This valuable learning is something the students will apply directly to their current exploration of inclusion and exclusion in American History, and carry with them well beyond the classroom.

A big thank you to Simone!
