When Plan A fails, it’s always good to have a Plan B.
Monday, September 16 dawned to leaden skies and wet sidewalks, yet the forecast was optimistic. With the SCS Parents’ Association Welcome BBQ just hours away, the valiant PA team forged ahead with plans. The grill was fired up and the activities were unloaded before the clouds rolled back in and the skies opened.
Never ones to be defeated, the PA quickly moved the event indoors. While the conditions may have dampened the Side Yard and Circular Drive, they certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of all who attended.
With hamburgers and hot dogs sizzling on the grill just outside, the SCS community gathered in the East Gym for a couple of hours of fun. Held early each school year to welcome new members to the community and to welcome back familiar faces, despite the rain this year’s event was well attended by students, parents, faculty, and staff alike.
The elements conspired against a bouncy castle, but there was still plenty of fun and games with giant Jenga, Connect Four, Ladder Ball, bean-bag toss, washer toss, and even a photo booth. There were also lots of opportunities to mix and mingle with teachers, staff, fellow parents, and students.
The Parents’ Association looks forward to welcoming more members of the SCS community throughout the coming year.
