Competitive swimmer Elizabeth S. ’21 didn’t take to the water at first. She credits a great instructor who kept encouraging her to jump in with changing her mind about the pool. In Grade 3, she began swimming competitively.
Elizabeth has had one stint on the SCS Swim Team so far, but mainly trains outside of school. Her best events are the 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle, but she also enjoys the 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley. Elizabeth’s favourite thing about the sport is how calm she feels in the pool, even when gliding through the water at top speed.
Swimming relaxes her and makes her happy. The team aspect is also important to her; while swimming is an individual sport, Elizabeth is happy to say that she has very encouraging teammates, which makes a big difference!
