With the sound of beautiful harmonies, incredible artwork, foot-tapping beats and dance, Clementine’s welcomed the new season at the Sights and Sounds of Spring show on Thursday, April 16. The lobby of St. Clement’s was transformed into an impressive gallery to rival the ROM, featuring photography, graphic design and paintings by students. One Grade 11 student, Lily Coles, chose to share pieces representing women’s rights and feminist issues, with phrases like ‘Human Rights Are Women’s Rights’ – a poignant reminder for us here at St. Clement’s.
Powell Hall was filled with the sound of music with Junior and Senior choirs, bands and clubs taking the stage to share what they had been working on through the winter. We heard from the Grade 10 ukulele ensemble, and a few popular numbers, including Blank Space by Taylor Swift and Happy by Pharell. From the school bands and choirs, we heard songs including Popping Corn, Can You Feel The Love Tonight?, Band Room Boogie, and Frobisher Bay. The Senior Choir closed the event with their version of The Beatles’ Here Comes The Sun – a fitting way to close the evening and celebrate spring!
