Only 11 days until Lumina is upon us. This year, Caroline Monahan â16 and Nicole Ng â16 have produced a show that will Elevate Design. âThis is an event that everyone in the St. Clementâs School community looks forward to, and each year is an exciting, fresh take on design,â said Caroline. âOur goal with this yearâs theme is to take common conceptions of fashion and elevate them to new and different heights.â
Lumina is a fashion design show in which the fashions are designed and created by students. This year, more than 80 students are involved across design, choreography, modelling, production, stage crew, and hair and makeup. There will be 12 scenes in total at five minutes each, including one apprentice scene and one menswear scene. Additionally, proceeds from ticket sales and the online fashion auction following the shows are being directed toward a Syrian refugee family resettling in the GTA, in partnership with St. Clement’s Church.
âCaroline and I have each been a part of Lumina for the past two years; Caroline was a model then choreographer in her first and second years, I was a choreographer in both years,â said Nicole. âThis year, weâve had an incredible time working together as producers and we canât wait to show you how SCS is elevating design.â
Lumina shows are on Friday, January 22 at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, January 23 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are selling fast and can be bought at scs.on.ca/performances.
