It’s almost the end of January… are you still sticking to your new year’s resolutions? If they have fallen by the wayside, here’s a healthy tip to kick start your motivations. Nutritionist Samantha Ushedo recently visited St. Clement’s School to share her 8 Habits of Healthy, Happy People with our Grade 11’s. A simple, easy to follow tip that especially resonated with the girls: incorporate a lemon into your rise and shine routine!
Benefits to picking up (and squeezing out) a lovely yellow lemon daily include:
- Aiding in digestion
- Detoxifying your body by enhancing enzyme function
- Preventing sickness and boosting your immune system
- Keeping you hydrated
Stirring a little citrus in your H20 is a good-for-you trick that is also pretty effortless. As one of our girls noted with great self-awareness, “I will NOT run! I do not enjoy running and I will not feel bad about it. I will, however, drink lemon water!”
On top of these more obvious benefits, it may surprise you to know that drinking lemon water every morning can freshen your breath, keep your skin blemish-free, reduce inflammation, and give you a non-caffeinated energy boost!
