It is with pride that we talk about our closely-knit community and the impact that it has had on us.
According to Dictionary.com, a community is a group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists.
A few weeks ago, we had our last Junior School-led assembly, run by the Grade 3s. For those blog readers who are not familiar with St. Clement’s, our full school assemblies are a huge part of who we are.
Several members of my family were sitting around the table after breakfast this weekend talking when my 9-year-old nephew looked up from what he was doing and said, “Basically, life is like dodgeball and the balls that come our way are questions.” I don’t recall what we had been speaking about,
IÂ have been travelling a bit this week which allows me to do things like read the newspaper- usually reserved for more leisurely Saturday mornings. On Friday morning I came across an article that grabbed my attention immediately.
This weekend was our Alumnae Weekend- a time when we welcome alumnae from the 40s through to 2012 and it always brings us a great sense of pride as well as many wise perspectives.
I find that inspiration for my writing comes at different times and through a variety of channels, and this week was no different. Â This week, the timing of the inspiration seemed perfect.
On Thursday evening, I was asked to speak at Upper Canada College to a number of teachers at the beginning of their careers as a part of their professional development program.
This weekend I find myself troubled and yet even more determined than usual to ensure that we continue to work hard to develop women who are confident and proactive. We must nurture women who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in,
